You ARE My Soul

"Let's do it," he said enthusiastically with a huge grin on his face. "Forget all the wedding planning, forget our families and friends," he added as he reached for my swollen hand. At 8 months pregnant I was beginning to retain water, everywhere. Brandon, my fiance, was efficient at making me feel cute with or without the extra thirty pounds. As he continued, he looked in my eyes and added,"Just you and me, together. It will be perfect."

Knowing that the stress of a wedding was getting the best of me I began to consider it, again. This wasn't the first time we discussed eloping. It was an exciting idea we talked about from time to time, never intending to act on it. As I sat there and pondered the idea of getting married without anyone knowing, I got the butterflies. "Let's do it!"

Six years ago today that's exactly what we did- and we haven't skipped a beat since.

Starting a family unexpectedly at a young age (Brandon 19, me 20- yes, I robbed the cradle) has been the most thrilling ride of my life. I love our story just the way it is. To think about where we started in comparison to where we're going I can't help but be amazed. Brandon and I are growing up, and we're doing it together.

To Brandon:

Thank you for being such a fun partner to share this journey with. Thank you for being my best friend, my companion, my life, my everything. I didn't think it was possible to love you more than I already do, but every single day I grow more and more in love with you and the man you are becoming. You said it best: "You aren't just my soulmate, you ARE my soul." Thank you for completing me.

Happy Anniversary, I love you...  (    )

Ps- I stumbled across this photo of us from when we first started dating- embrace yourself, it's laugh worthy.
