Audrey | Senior 2010

Audrey and her mother made a trip out to my house to have her senior portraits taken. Before they arrived I informed them that it's the tiny little house that sits right next to the road, the one with a tin roof. I joke because I often fear people will pass right by without even seeing it. I think of it like a hiccup. It comes and goes before you even realize what just happened. It's about the size of an apartment to give you an idea of how small we're talking here. (It's perfect for us) Needless to say, they found it.  The 1st time. I know, I need to stop underestimating people's navigational skills.

Once they arrived we toted all Audrey's jewelry (which, btw, is the best collection I've seen- 4 tackle boxes full- not even kidding) to my bedroom, along with her clothes, and started planning outfits. We only had about an hour and a half of sunlight so we  quickly formulated a plan and set out to see it through. We conquered.

All the photos that were captured of Audrey were taken on our property (owned by my in-laws). We considered traveling to a town to snap a few more but were very pleased what we got at my house that we decided against it. As always, I begin with my favorite.

My Sonshine

I hope your dreams take you to the corners of your smiles,

To the highest of your hopes,

To the windows of your opportunities,

And to the most special places your heart has ever known.

Chris + Megan | Engagement

A co-worker of mine contacted me about photographing her daughter's wedding in January and then lo and behold her son got engaged too ("lo" in this usage is spelled correctly, I googled it. Yes, google is my spell checker)! I will be photographing both weddings and look forward it. This engagement session is of her son, Chris, and his fiance, Megan. It was a very chilly October morning the day of the shoot but we all toughed it out. I think the photos came out rather lovely if I don't say so myself.

Erin + Dustin | Wedding

Dustin and Erin are the very first couple I've had the privilege to photograph for their engagement photos  and wedding photos. I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, open-minded, delightful couple to be my "first." Erin is a friend of a friend that was referred to me months ago. When she contacted me I had never met her. Meeting someone you are going to photograph is somewhat like what I imagine a blind date to feel like. A little nervousness and a lot of excitement! Since then, I truly feel like I can call Erin a friend.  I have discovered that one of the best things about being a photographer is making new friends through the people I photograph; people I probably would have never had the opportunity to meet. After spending time together taking photos for their engagement I immediately felt like I clicked with Erin as a friend. Her style is very similar to mine. Once Dustin and Erin's wedding day came I was ecstatic. Apprehending the excitement of photographing a wedding which I knew would include cowboy boots, a red barn and a gorgeous fall day was nothing less than a tease. As you will see, the wedding was stunning. Something you could see in Southern Magazine.  Erin and Dustin, thank you for the opportunity to call you friends, and thank you for sharing your wedding day with me. Congrats! I begin with my favorite:

I Heart Faces Challenge | Silhouette

I have been wanting to get a shot like this for a long time- I finally got it! I think this photo will always be one of my favorites. Erin & Dustin make such pretty silhouettes.

Maris | Toddler

Words just can't describe the cuteness little Miss Maris exudes. She is a ball of amazing, all wrapped up with the sweetest little voice your ears have ever heard. Just being in her presence made my heart melt. When I found out I was going to be photographing a little girl I started brainstorming some prop ideas. After contemplating ideas, I decided to make some flower headbands for the shoot, something I've been wanting to do for a while now. With intentions of making 1 headband, I made 8. Ooops! I found out real quick that it's probably a good thing I don't have a daughter.  It really would be bad (but man, I really want one!). The headbands turned out great, and the photos did too. Here is Maris, the sweetest girl I know ;)
